Jornada X Gincana

In early October, Jornada X held at the Cidade de Hiroshima State School (East Zone of São Paulo) the first Gincana pilot, which involved teachers, students, parents and the community.

During the competition day (8th October 2021) the more than 600 participants left a great legacy for the school and community: 250m of graffiti wall by students and local artist; task force to clean the shore of the Parque do Carmo lake; the construction of 80m2 of vegetable garden; 250Kg of food and 3000 pieces of clothing collected and donated to families in the community.

“It takes an entire village to raise a child”.

Inspired by this African proverb, the @JornadaX Gincana was conceived by LiveLab, which joined forces with Coletivo ASAS.BR.COM and NOW Partners, to call for emergency action throughout the country and encourage the return to in-person classes. It aims to unite the community, welcome teachers and reduce school dropouts and dropouts.

Escola Cidade de Hiroshima is the first to join the movement, and the more than 290 students from the winning league will be awarded a special cinema session at Petra Belas Artes followed by a cultural tour along Av. Paulista, on October 28th.

Gincana Da @JornadaX summons state and municipal education secretariats, school-friendly companies and the entire civil society for a national campaign for the return to school. Interested parties will be able to support the campaign through a crowdfunding platform that will be launched in November.

It all started with mysterious cards distributed by the school, in which missions, tips and instructions were given to the 4 leagues formed by almost 400 students (Mestre, Polvin, Pletora and Honoris). After a month of great student engagement, teachers’ dedication, articulation with local institutions (Parque do Carmo, SESC, Unifesp, etc.) and collection of donations by the community, the leagues held a day of scavenger hunt with games and actions: dance, volleyball, frisbee, graffiti, vegetable garden, cleaning effort, slam battle, friendship fair, general knowledge game.
