Scaling Natural Farming Globally
NOW Partners Foundation helps to internationally adapt and scale the Andhra Pradesh Community Managed Natural Farming (APCNF) – the world’s largest and fastest growing organic-agroecology initiative that has expanded in India from 40,000 to over 1.1 million farmers over the past 9 years. By 2030, APCNF will be used by over 50% of Andhra Pradesh’s 6 million farmers, demonstrating that highly innovative Agroecology can become the new sustainable mainstream of agriculture and agroforestry.
Natural Farming Outperforms Conventional
APCNF is so successful because it integrates the economic success of farmers and their communities with strengthening yields and human health, soil, food and water security, biodiversity and the climate.
Farmers see income increases from year one due to increased yields and decreased costs. Besides its highly innovative agriculture method that works under all climate and soil conditions, it also is so successful due to innovations in its approach to scaling and capacity building, which we also help to adapt to extension systems in other countries with the Global Academy that NOW co-founded with innovative Agroecology and Agroforestry leaders and institutions.
International Pilots
Over 50 countries in Africa, Asia, and Latin America have asked for support to adapt and scale APCNF within their specific natural, cultural and economic contexts. Together with our local partners and RySS which developed and leads APCNF, NOW already launched successful pilots in Zambia and Sri Lanka. Projects are in preparation to support the Philippines, Brazil and other countries.
To support mutual understanding and co-innovation between leading approaches, NOW and Global Academy co-organized a learning journey with the Brazilian Ministry for Family Farming and Agrarian Development and RySS that included cooperatives representing over 3 million farmers.
This international adaptation and scaling process will also be supported by the COP30 TERRA Action Agenda that NOW was invited to co-lead by the Brazilian government and the COP Presidency in regard to globally mainstreaming Agroecology and Agroforestry.
